My Favourite Concealer and Foundations for WoC (Women of Colour)

I know this is a completely different, non-hair related post but if you remember this post on most frequently worn lip combinations. Therefore I am going to post the odd make up post aimed at WoC (Women of Colour). Today I am continuing with my most frequently worn concealer and foundations.

1. Collection 2000 Colour Match Foundation
This used to be (*cries at used to be*) available in Superdrug until they discontinued it :(. This foundation matches my skin quite well, but definitely more during Summer when my skin tone is a bit darker. It is a lightweight foundation which also makes it perfect for Summer. Another strength is that you can build it up to your coverage as light or as heavy as you would like. I think this foundation is still available on Amazon and maybe Ebay!

2. MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (depotted)
This retails for £15.50 which is quite pricey but to be fair it does last me a long time (typically 4-5 months). I use this daily when I am going to work and it does last alll day even without a primer. I like it because it offers full coverage for any dark spots I do have. The description below is from MAC and I'd say it is 100% accurate:
"A lightweight fluid concealer that provides medium to full coverage with a comfortable, natural matte finish. Colour-true formula lasts up to 15 hours. Helps conceal and correct the look of under-eye circles, and discolorations. Comes in a clear glass vial with a matte black pump."

3. MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 Foundation
This retails for £21.50 , again quite pricey but can you believe this foundation is only half full and I purchased it in March 2012?! I use this for nights out and in the recent hot weather I have been mixing it with the Collection 2000 Colour Match Foundation to get a lighter coverage and to match my skin tone as it is a bit darker.

You can purchase MAC from Debenhams, Selfridges, the MAC shop and of course their website.

My Favourite Lip Combinations for WoC (Women of Colour)

I know this is a completely different, non-hair related post however I have been engaging in the #brownbeauty debate on Twitter (every Sunday at 8pm) and I feel there are not enough make up tips/cosmetics aimed at WoC (Women of Colour). Therefore I am going to post the odd make up post aimed at women like myself. Today I am starting with my most frequently worn lip combinations :).

MAC Cyber Lipstick
This is more of a colour I'd wear in the Winter. Like my other MAC lipsticks it is very pigmented and lasts a long time. It is a Satin finish. Purchased from House of Fraser.

MAC Ruby Woo.
This is probably my favourite lipstick because: a) it is pigmented b) I can wear it all year long c) It fits any occasion. It is a Matte finish. Purchased from House of Fraser.

MAC Freckletone.
This is my go-to neutral lipstick, it feels nice on my lips and applies easily. It is a Lustre finish. Purchased from Duty Free.

Sleek's Loved Up Lipstick.

Sleek have a lovely selection of lipsticks and they are only £4.99 at Superdrug. It is a Sheen finish and extremely pigmented and long-lasting for the price. It is a fun lipstick to wear out!

Combination from the Sleek's Lip4 Palette Showgirl.

Very pigmented but also I feel very similar to Sleek's Loved Up Lipstick. It was £8.99.

On my wishlist are:
MAC Candy Yum Yum or the dupe (Barry M 05 Lipstick)
MAC Heroine or the Sleek's Mystic (Heroine dupe)
MAC's RiRi Boy
Wet n Wild Cherry Picking

You can also purchase MAC lipsticks from Debenhams, Selfridges, the MAC shop and of course their website.

Make Up Buys

If you're a long time reader of my blog you may be confused. I purchased three products from MAC *shock horror*. The only two MAC products I own are the studiofinish concealer and the foundation. However I received vouchers for House of Fraser and knew I would spend it at MAC. I bought two lipsticks, were £14 each which is quite expensive.

These were Ruby Woo - the best selling lipstick, it is rumoured to be worn by Gwen Stefani. It is a red matte lipstick.
I also purchased Cyber- a deep vampy purple which is perfect for Winter. I will be doing swatches, mainly because there are a lack of lip swatches on dark skin available.

I also purchased an eyebrow pencil in Spiked for £12.50, I will use this to fill in my eyebrows (after a bit of practice).

It feels so odd to own 5 MAC products, that's a lot to me especially since they total about £70! It makes me wonder how much are other people's MAC make up collections worth lol.
